GMRE, Inc. geologists have been mapping the
bedrock geology of 7.5 minute quadrangles in
central Pennsylvania as part of the State Map
program. The geology in this part of the state
ranges from Cambrian carbonate rocks to
Devonian shales and siltstones.
The index map shows the current status of
quadrangle mapping. The Lewistown, Belleville,
Allensville, Newton Hamilton, and McVeytown
quadrangles have been mapped by Geologic
Survey staff geologists, while we have mapped
the Burnham, Barrville, and McAlevys Fort
quadrangles. Currently we are mapping the
Julian and State College quadrangles.
